The Mormon's settled in the San Bernardino area for a time and it was Brigham Young's dream that a colony here could supply some of the Saints with needed goods to make the journey to Salt Lake if they traveled to the California coast in a ship..
The above picture explains to visitors how the area was settled and by whom. Thanks to Sister Marilyn and Brother John Bascom for keeping the story in the hearts and minds of the people in San Bernardino and surrounding areas. Because of the two of them, the history lives on as they share the story at various civic events and re-enactments. The following pictures were taken there when President Godwin and I were invited to attend. We always explain to the new arriving missionaries about the part members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints played in this amazing history. San Bernardino was the 3rd stake of the church.
